pro bono clients

As HaVen is the only truly local accountancy firm on Sint Maarten, it directs its Corporate Social Responsibility activities towards island community initiatives that were built from the ground up.

HaVen contributes its efforts to:

Keep a Cool Head Project – Help Our Children Foundation

Project Keep a Cool Head was set up to install solar powered ACs in Milton Peters College classrooms that are still in need thereof. For $5000 per classroom, sponsors make an important contribution to favorable learning conditions for Sint Maarten’s youth. In return, the ‘classroom sponsor’ names the classroom and his or her academic and career resume will hang on the classroom wall as an example for students. Many MPC alumni such as Sunny Khatnani (Divico), Sivio Martes (Port of St. Maarten), and Benjamin Ortega (Chamber of Commerce) donated and have their ‘own’ classroom. HaVen is the initiator and organizer of the project.

Nanny Nursy – God Bless Nurse Monique Nanny Nursy foundation

Monique Gumbs, also known as Nanny Nurssy, is a nurse at Sint Maarten Medical Center who uses her spare time to feed, nurse, and care for those that need it most. Her activities include distribution of diabetes medicine, preparing wholesome meals, and providing the less fortunate with clothing and personal care products. HaVen recently assisted her to obtain funds from the Trust Fund Project ‘Resources for Community Resilience’, financed by the Dutch Government and managed by the World Bank.

Loekie Morales – Beyond Kultura Foundation

The Beyond Kultura Foundation is an initiator and organizer of educational projects for children. Recent projects include a poem contest around the theme COVID-19 and a volunteering initiative for the youth of Sint Maarten to read to the elderly or simply entertain them. In addition, the foundation publishes children’s books written by the foundation’s president Loekie Morales. Her latest publication was ‘Storm’, which centers around hurricane Irma.

Besides above CSR initiatives, both Martin and Erik are members of the Foundation Tax Committee, a foundation that assists Government in tax reform with bot solicited and unsolicited advice.
